The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a 5% federal tax that is applied to most goods and services sold in Canada.

You’ll see GST added to the price of most things you buy in Canada, from groceries to clothing to services. Some items, like basic groceries and certain healthcare services, are exempt from GST. Newcomers may be eligible for a GST/HST credit.
